BPS Cognitive Section Postgraduate bursary

The Cognitive section aims to provide some financial assistance to help postgraduates to attend and present posters/papers at the Annual Conference of the BPS Cognitive Psychology Section.

Currently, the maximum value of awards is £250 per applicant. Awards could contribute towards registration, accommodation at the conference venue, or travel to the conference.

Eligibility:
The award is open to postgraduates registered for research degrees at any UK or Republic of Ireland institution. To apply, postgraduates must be members of the BPS Cognitive Section (or have applied for membership).

Applications should include:
1. Full contact details of applicant, including email address.
2. A copy of the abstract submitted to the conference
3.
BPS membership number (or confirmation that membership has been sought with date). For information on how to join the BPS see below.
4. Evidence of membership to the BPS Cognitive Section.
5.
Details of travel costs (if applicable).
6.
Details of accommodation costs, preferably a photocopy of the accommodation form.
7.
Signed supporting statement from student's supervisor.
8.
A cover letter from the application containing any other relevant information.

Closing date for applications: 4th July 2012. Applications should be made by letter to the Section Treasurer; Dr. Laurie Butler, School of Psychology & Clinical Language Sciences, Earley Gate, The University of Reading, Whiteknights, PO Box 238, Reading, Berkshire, RG6 6AL, United Kingdom. APPLICATIONS BY EMAIL WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

Further conditions: Retrospective applications will not be considered. The number of bursaries available each year will depend on resources and award of a bursary cannot be guaranteed even if all requirements for eligibility have been met. Decisions will be final, and no correspondence will be entered into regarding unsuccessful applications.

Note: In order to join the Cognitive Section, individuals must already be a member of the British Psychological Society. BPS members can join the Cognitive Section by obtaining the appropriate application form from the BPS Leicester office (BPS, St Andrews House, 48 Princess Road East, Leicester, LE1 7DR) or by downloading the form from the Section website - How to Join the Section.

If you have any specific questions about the bursary scheme please email the Treasurer, Dr. Laurie T. Butler.
